CDS comprises Britain’s 22 leading Drama Schools (including Rose Bruford).

Arts Council England
The national "voice for the arts" supporting a range of artistic activities from theatre to music, literature to dance, photography to digital art, carnival to crafts.
Published "Artists in figures" (2003) which provides information on the size of the artistic labour force, artists’ employment status, employment tenure, unemployment, their working hours, pay and multiple job-holding.

Association of Lighting Designers (ALD)
The professional body representing lighting designers in all fields in the United Kingdom and the rest of the world.

Association of Sound Designers (ASD)
The association for UK theatre sound professionals and students.

British Association of Dramatherapists
The professional organisation for Dramatherapists in the United Kingdom.

British Film Institute
Includes the BFI National Library, a Film & TV database, an archive research guide, resources for researchers and some downloadable publications.

Centre for Performance Research
Located in Wales, CPR produces innovative performance work: arranges workshops, conferences, lectures and masterclasses; curates and produces festivals, expositions and exchanges with theatre companies from around the world; publishes and distributes theatre books, as well as the journal Performance Research, and houses a resource centre and library that specializes in world theatre and performance.

Costume Society
The Society promotes every aspect of the study of clothing and textiles and aims to encourage access to costume history, including contemporary dress. in various different ways. The appeal is wide-ranging and object-based.

Directors Guild of Great Britain (DGGB)
Serves to train, promote and celebrate directors and directing across all media: film, television, theatre, radio, opera, commercials, music videos, corporate film, multimedia and new technology.

Educational Theatre Association
EdTA’s mission is shaping lives through theatre education by: honoring student achievement in theatre and enriching their theatre education experience; supporting teachers by providing professional development, networking opportunities, resources, and recognition; and influencing public opinion that theatre education is essential and builds life skills.

Independent Theatre Council
The management association and industry lead body for performing arts organisations and individuals working in the field of drama, dance, opera and music theatre, mime and physical theatre, circus, puppetry, street arts and mixed media. It also provides advice, information and sample contracts: ITC Advice and Info (and sample contracts)

ITI International Theatre Institute
To promote international exchange of knowledge and practice in theatre arts. Also provides the World Theatre Directory.

PLASA (Professional Light And Sound Association)
PLASA is the lead international membership body for those who supply technologies and services to the event, entertainment and installation industries.

SCUDD: Standing Conference of University Drama Departments
SCUDD represents the interests of Drama, Theatre and Performing Arts in the Higher Education sector in the UK. It acts as a mediating body with organisations such as funding councils, the AHRC and the Arts Councils and is consulted by such organisations when matters of future policy are discussed and decided.

Society of British Theatre Designers
A professional organisation run by designers created to benefit theatre designers and their profession and to explore and further the role of the designer within the arts today.

Society of Light and Lighting
The SLL is recognised worldwide as an authority on lighting and its applications. The Society builds on 100 years of history with its origins going back to the formation, in 1909, of the Illuminating Engineering Society, which had the aim of considering all applications of natural and artificial light.

Stage Directors UK (SDUK)
An organisation dedicated to the interests of UK stage directors and to their art and craft in all forms of theatre and opera.

Stage Management Association

Theatre Information Group (TIG)
The subject specialist network for museums, libraries and archives of the performing arts in the UK.

The Theatres Trust
The Theatres Trust is the government’s adviser on theatres and provides a range of advisory services. There is a Resource Centre at 22 Charing Cross Road.

United States Institute for Theatre Technology (USITT)
Serving the design, production, and technology professionals in the performing arts and entertainment industry.
