What will happen if your attendance and engagement falls below acceptable levels.
If you are not attending and engaging with your programme of study on a regular and
consistent basis then, in the first instance, tutors will raise the matter informally and guide you to appropriate support. However, if this pattern of behaviour persists then the following process will be applied:
You will be invited to a formal tutorial with the relevant Programme
Director/subject leader. The purpose of this meeting will be to analyse why
attendance and engagement has fallen below expectations and how you can
be supported academically and pastorally to get your studies back on track. It
will be established that you understand the attendance and engagement
requirement and the potential implications of not meeting it. We will write to
you outlining the details of the discussion and actions agreed. If, subsequent
to this meeting, attendance and engagement is within acceptable parameters
for the remainder of the academic year the process will end. If you do not

attend the meeting, there is insufficient improvement in attendance and
engagement, or attendance and engagement later falls below what is
acceptable, the process will move to stage 2.
You will be required to attend a formal tutorial with the Dean and the
Programme Director/Subject Leader present. The purpose of the meeting will
still be to support you to get back on track and identify additional support
needs. The meeting will confirm the implication of continued poor attendance
and engagement, including ineligibility for international exchange
opportunities or external placement opportunities and the likelihood of
withdrawal which would require the College to inform relevant external
bodies, such as UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) and the Student Loans
Company (SLC). If you do not attend the meeting, or there is insufficient
improvement in attendance and engagement, or attendance and engagement
later falls below what is acceptable, the process with move to stage 3.
If you remain in breach of attendance and engagement requirements, then you
will be subject to the Student Disciplinary Procedure, which could result in:
a) suspension from the College or exclusion from classes or from the
precincts of the College (or any part thereof) for a specified period;
b) expulsion from the College.
Nb. On expulsion the College will inform relevant external bodies, such as UK Visas
and Immigration (UKVI) and the Student Loans Company (SLC).
You have the right of appeal against any disciplinary action. The process for appealing
is set out within the Student Disciplinary Procedure.
